Choosing a Trainer

This is the first and most important decision you will make on your road to becoming a Driving Instructor. Here are a few do’s and don’ts to help ensure you make the right decision.

Do’s

  • Go to the DSA web site - Instructors / ORDIT Register.
  • Visit all ORDIT Trainers in your area.
  • Look for a training provider who has a quality control system to monitor the performance of their Trainers.
  • Look for a training provider who, as part of their quality control system, provides Parts 2 and 3 mock testing by an impartial third party.
  • Look for a training provider with a proven track record of consistently delivering quality training.

Don’ts

  • Sign up or agree to anything until you’ve seen all the likely candidates and have had time to reflect on what’s on offer.
  • Believe offers of unlimited Parts 2 and 3 training in exchange for an upfront fee. It sounds too good to be true because it is too good to be true.
